My Jmail Box expired, what happens to my letters?
Jmail does not hold any mail. If you are expecting a letter and you have not received it yet, this is because Jmail has also not received it yet. Rest assured, as soon as Jmail receives your letter, it will be scanned and uploaded to your account.
Typical reasons that cause delays in your mail.
- The person is not addressing the envelope properly or to the correct address, or not including the C/O Jmail on the envelope. See the link below on how your pen pals should be addressing the envelope:
What is my Jmail Address?
- The prison mailroom is not sending out the letters promptly. We routinely see dates that the inmates have marked as the date they sent the letter or turned it in for sending, but the USPS postmark date is sometimes more than several days after the date the inmate listed, which means the prison held the mail for several days before sending.
- The letter could simply be lost in the mail and hopefully, Jmail will receive it soon or the USPS will return it to the sender.
Please Note: No mail is scanned/received on Sundays or Holidays as the USPS does not provide mailing services on those days.
