Many times our members believe the mail takes longer to be received than how long it actually took. An example of this is, the inmate writes a date on the letter showing when the wrote it. For example: August 1. The inmate then turns the letter in to the prison mail room sometimes the same day or the following day, August 2nd. The prison then holds the mail for inspection and actually doesn't send the letter until August 3 or 4. Then you receive the letter on August 7th or 8th. This leads many of our members to believe it took a full week for the letter to actually arrive to Jmail when in reality, the letter was received in 3-4 days. When you see a date written on the inside of the letter from the inmate, expect that the letter was not actually mailed through the postal service for at least 1-2 more days. Please take that into consideration when calculating how long it took for shipping, it will typically be a shorter delivery time than you first thought.
